A Royal Botanical Gardens limo or black car from downtown Hamilton is a short run of about 8 km (10–15 minutes) to the RBG Centre on Plains Road West in Burlington; planning figures sit around $90–115 one way in a business sedan. Most visitors book an hourly chauffeur instead: $120–145 per hour, three-hour minimum, so the car hops between garden areas and waits for you.
Royal Botanical Gardens limo and car service: the short version
Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is not one garden behind one gate. It is a string of separate garden areas and nature lands spread across the boundary of Hamilton and Burlington, and that layout is exactly why a car with a driver makes sense. The garden itself describes RBG as Canada's largest botanical garden, with more than 2,190 acres of nature sanctuaries, about 130 acres of cultivated gardens and some 27 km of trails (rbg.ca). On foot or by transit, getting from the RBG Centre to the Rock Garden and then out to the Arboretum eats a lot of the afternoon. With HamiltonLimo.net, you book one car and one chauffeur on our own reservation engine, see a fixed all-in fare before you confirm, and the car simply moves with you. That is the whole idea of our hourly chauffeur in Hamilton: several stops, no parking searches, no waiting for a ride-hail at a garden gate.
Planning fares to Royal Botanical Gardens
These are planning ranges for a business sedan, all-in (chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, any 407 tolls, gratuity) with HST shown separately. The reservation engine quotes the exact address, date and vehicle before you commit.

A first-class sedan runs about 2.5 times the business sedan figure; an executive SUV adds about 65 % and a luxury van about 50 %. The Hamilton limo price guide explains how those multipliers work across the fleet.
Which RBG gate the car drops you at
Tell us which part of the gardens you want first, because the addresses differ. The RBG Centre and Hendrie Park share 680 Plains Road West in Burlington; the car pulls into the front drive and you walk straight into the main building, the Garden Shop and the Hendrie Park beds. The Rock Garden is at 1185 York Boulevard in Hamilton, with its lot across the road from the garden and accessible spaces right outside the building, according to RBG's directions page. Laking Garden and the Arboretum trailheads have their own smaller lots, and RBG notes that public transit does not stop at either one, which is where a chauffeur earns the fare. Our dispatcher enters each stop as a separate waypoint, so the chauffeur knows the order before the day starts and nobody has to re-explain it at the curb.
Pickup, waiting and the three-hour rule
Garden visits rarely finish on schedule; someone always wants one more path. On an hourly booking the chauffeur parks nearby and waits, and you message when you are ready. On a one-way booking the standard 15 minutes of included waiting applies, after which time is billed in 15-minute blocks, so for anything longer than a single drop we steer people to hourly. Three hours in a sedan comes to roughly $360–435 all-in plus HST, and a four-hour booking lands around $480–580. That covers the Centre, the Rock Garden and a lunch stop with time to spare. If you are unsure, read hourly versus point to point; for a garden day hourly nearly always wins.
How long to allow at Royal Botanical Gardens
For a first visit, allow two to three hours to see the RBG Centre, Hendrie Park and the Rock Garden without rushing. Add an hour if you want the Arboretum or a stretch of trail, and another if you plan a sit-down lunch. Photographers working golden hour often need a four-hour block, because the good light arrives late and moves fast. Garden hours vary by area and by season (the trails, for instance, are open much longer days than the indoor spaces), so check the current times and admission on the official site before you set a pickup; we deliberately do not print them here because they change through the year.
Best times and seasons for a chauffeured garden visit
Spring and early summer are the showpiece months: the Arboretum is known for its lilac collection in late spring, and Laking Garden is known for irises and peonies as spring turns to summer. Midsummer brings the Hendrie Park rose beds and long evenings. Autumn colour along the ravines and Cootes Paradise is quieter and very photogenic. Winter is not dead season either; the indoor spaces at the RBG Centre stay open well past the summer crowds. From a driver's point of view, weekday mornings are the easiest time to arrive, and fine-weather Saturdays in June are the busiest, with lots filling by late morning. Being dropped at the door instead of circling for a space is the most obvious benefit then.

Wedding photos at Royal Botanical Gardens
RBG is one of the most requested wedding photo locations we drive to, and it also rents venues for weddings and private events. Professional photography needs a permit from RBG, which the couple or photographer arranges directly with the garden; recreational photos by guests are welcome. From the transport side, what matters is timing. A typical plan: pick up the couple after the ceremony, run to the Rock Garden or Hendrie Park for 60–75 minutes of portraits, then carry on to the reception. The chauffeur keeps water, an umbrella and the car's air conditioning ready between locations. For the full day, including the bridal party, see our wedding limo service and the planning notes in how to book a wedding limo.

Which vehicle suits a garden day
- Business sedan: up to three passengers; ideal for a couple or a visiting parent who wants a relaxed afternoon.
- Business SUV: up to five passengers and five bags; a black Tahoe or Yukon at $145–175 per hour (about $115–150 one way from downtown Hamilton), close to sedan money, with winter traction.
- First-class sedan: for a milestone birthday, an anniversary or a client you want to impress.
- Executive SUV: up to six, with room for a folding wheelchair, a stroller or photography cases.
- Luxury van: easiest step-in height for older guests, also up to six.
- Sprinter: up to fourteen, the right tool for a garden club, a bridal party or a corporate group.
- Jet Sprinter: a VIP lounge Sprinter for up to seven, with captain's chairs, for a board or donor visit; $650–750 an hour.
Stretch limousines and Rolls-Royce cars for wedding portraits come from vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, and we say so on the booking. Compare them on the fleet page.
Sample hourly itinerary: gardens, waterfront and dinner
This four-hour sedan plan suits a Saturday in June and stays inside the planning figure of $480–580 all-in plus HST.
- 1:00 pm pickup in downtown Hamilton; 8 km, 12 minutes to the RBG Centre.
- 1:15–2:45 pm RBG Centre and Hendrie Park; the car waits in the lot.
- 2:50 pm short hop, about 4 km and 8 minutes, to the Rock Garden on York Boulevard.
- 3:00–3:50 pm Rock Garden walk.
- 3:55 pm 6 km, about 12 minutes, down York Boulevard to Bayfront Park on the Hamilton waterfront for a harbour stroll.
- 4:45 pm 3 km to James Street North for an early dinner, then home.
Swap the waterfront for Dundurn National Historic Site, about 2 km from the Rock Garden, if the group prefers history to harbour views.
Combining RBG with Burlington or wine country
Because the RBG Centre sits on Plains Road in Burlington, it pairs naturally with downtown Burlington's lakefront, about 8 km away, or with the Niagara Escarpment wineries further east. A popular six-hour chauffeured day runs RBG in the morning, then the QEW east through Grimsby (about 35 km, 30 minutes) for two tastings on the Beamsville Bench, then home. That day is priced as one hourly booking, not three separate rides, and the chauffeur handles the driving so nobody has to count glasses. See Niagara wine tours from Hamilton for how we plan tasting days.
Accessibility and older visitors
RBG lists accessible parking and accessible facilities at its main locations, and the Rock Garden has accessible spaces directly outside the building. Our part is getting guests to the closest usable door. Chauffeurs help with seat belts, fold and stow a manual wheelchair or walker, and wait at the curb rather than at the far end of a lot. A luxury van has the lowest step and the widest door, which many older passengers prefer. We do not run ramp-equipped wheelchair-accessible vehicles in our own fleet, so if a guest must stay in a power chair during travel, tell us at booking and we will be honest about the options rather than promise something we cannot deliver.
Families and school-age visitors
Children love the trails and the Nature Centre side of RBG, and parents appreciate not wrestling car seats in a rideshare. Infant, convertible and booster seats can be added at booking for a planning figure of $10–15 each, and the chauffeur fits them before pickup. Pack a change of clothes for younger children; the marsh boardwalks and creek edges near Cootes Paradise have a way of finding shoes. An executive SUV takes a family of five with a stroller comfortably.
Coming from Pearson or the train
Visitors flying in often go straight from Toronto Pearson to the gardens before checking in. The run is about 58 km, 40–55 minutes via the 403 or the QEW, or via the 407 when traffic is bad (tolls are included in the fixed fare when we use it). We track the flight and include 30 minutes of waiting on Canadian domestic and US arrivals, 60 minutes on other international arrivals. The standard pickup is curbside at the commercial pickup area; meet and greet inside arrivals is an optional add-on. Rail travellers on VIA or GO can be collected at Aldershot station, only a few minutes from the RBG Centre. See the Aldershot station transfer page for the pickup point.
Traffic around the gardens
Plains Road and York Boulevard are usually easy, but the QEW and the 403 around the Burlington split slow down in weekday rush hours, and the Burlington Bay James N. Allan Skyway can be windy and slow in bad weather. Summer Saturdays bring beach and harbour traffic along the lakeshore. Our dispatcher builds a margin into any pickup that has to meet a ceremony time or a teahouse reservation, and checks 511 Ontario for closures before sending the car.
Corporate groups and garden events
Company offsites, client appreciation afternoons and conferences at nearby hotels sometimes include a garden visit. A Sprinter moves up to fourteen people with their bags; larger groups can be split across several vehicles on one dispatch, priced in writing by a coordinator. We invoice companies directly through corporate accounts and keep one point of contact for the whole movement.
Why book direct with HamiltonLimo.net
Our reservation engine shows the fixed fare before you pay: no surge, no meter, and no aggregator taking a commission. One dispatch desk plans the stops, one chauffeur stays with the car, and the booking confirmation lists every waypoint. Cancellations more than 72 hours ahead cost nothing; inside 72 hours a sliding charge applies, set out in the terms. Travellers who also need flights or a hotel can use our travel desk. Tourism Hamilton's visitor site is a good source for the rest of the city's calendar.
