A Hamilton to Union Station limo with HamiltonLimo.net is a planning range of $270–330 all-in for a business sedan, plus HST, for about 68 km and 50–75 minutes via the QEW and Gardiner. Union Station to Hamilton car service costs the same. Pickups are train-tracked for VIA Rail, GO and UP Express arrivals, with 15 minutes of included waiting.
Hamilton to Union Station limo: fares, distance and time
Union Station is Canada's busiest transport hub, where VIA Rail intercity trains, GO Transit commuter trains and buses, and the UP Express to Pearson all meet under one roof on Front Street. Here are one-way planning ranges between downtown Hamilton and Union, either direction:
| Vehicle | Passengers / bags | Hamilton ↔ Union Station (one way) | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | 3 / 3 | $270–330 | about 68 km | 50–75 min |
| Business SUV | 5 / 5 | $350–430 | about 68 km | 50–75 min |
| First-class sedan | 3 / 3 | $675–825 | about 68 km | 50–75 min |
| Executive SUV | 6 / 6 | $445–545 | about 68 km | 50–75 min |
| Luxury van | 6 / 6 | $405–495 | about 68 km | 50–75 min |
| Sprinter | 14 / 14 | $745–910 | about 68 km | 55–80 min |
| Jet Sprinter (VIP lounge) | 7 / 5 | $1,255–1,535 | about 68 km | 55–80 min |
Each range includes chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, any 407 toll, and gratuity; HST is shown at checkout. The reservation engine prices your exact address, date and vehicle and locks a fixed fare before you confirm. Nothing changes if the Gardiner is slow.
Who books a car to Union Station from Hamilton
Most of our Union Station runs fall into four groups. VIA Rail passengers heading to Ottawa, Montreal, Kingston or beyond, often with luggage and an early train. Travellers connecting to the UP Express for Pearson who would rather be dropped downtown for a meeting first. Business people with meetings in the financial district who want to arrive fresh rather than stand on a GO train. And families collecting relatives who have arrived by train from Montreal, New York (via the Maple Leaf) or elsewhere, when nobody wants to drive into the core and hunt for parking. The VIA Rail and UP Express sites have current schedules.
Where the car drops off and picks up at Union
Union Station occupies the block between Front Street, Bay Street and York Street. The main drop-off is on Front Street in front of the station's main entrance, between York and Bay, where both sides of the street are set aside for taxis and passenger drop-off. Pickup zones for pre-arranged cars and taxis are also on Front Street, toward York. There is a passenger pick-up and drop-off area on the lower level of the Union Station Bus Terminal on Bay Street, with elevator access, which is useful when Front Street is congested. Station layouts and curb rules change during construction, so check the Union Station website before travel; your chauffeur will text you the exact door to use on the day.
For VIA passengers, the Front Street doors lead most directly to the VIA concourse. For GO passengers the York and Bay concourses are closer. Tell us which service you are catching and the chauffeur will aim for the nearest curb.

Train tracking on Union Station to Hamilton pickups
When you book a Union Station to Hamilton car, enter the train number (for example your VIA train) or, for GO, the expected arrival time. Dispatch watches the train's live status and adjusts the chauffeur's timing if it runs late. Included waiting on station pickups is 15 minutes from the train's actual arrival; after that, waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks, and dispatch will message you first. If you need longer to collect luggage from VIA's baggage service, add waiting time at booking so it is planned rather than billed.
The fare includes curbside pickup: once you are off the platform and out of the station, message the chauffeur, who pulls up at the agreed curb. If you would like the chauffeur to meet you inside the station with a name board, add meet and greet at booking for a planning figure of $25–35.
When the GO train is the better choice
We would rather you book the right trip than the most expensive one. GO Transit's Lakeshore West line connects Hamilton and Toronto: some trains run from Hamilton GO Centre on Hunter Street, more run from West Harbour GO on James Street North, and all-day service stops at Aldershot in Burlington. Check stops and times on GO Transit. For a solo commuter with a backpack travelling at rush hour, the train is cheaper and often as fast, because it skips Gardiner traffic.
When a car wins
- Early and late trains: before the first convenient GO train or after the last one, a car is the only door-to-door option.
- Heavy luggage: VIA passengers with two big suitcases each, skis or instruments.
- Groups: three or four people sharing a sedan or SUV often pay less per head than you think, door to door, with no transit to the GO station.
- Time to work: a first-class sedan is a quiet office for an hour.
- Weekend GO service gaps and track work, when trains are replaced by buses.
- Getting from the Mountain: a GO trip from Upper Stoney Creek or Ancaster usually starts with a car or bus ride to the station anyway.
The drive: QEW, Gardiner and the last kilometre
From downtown Hamilton the chauffeur takes Highway 403 through Aldershot, the QEW east through Oakville and Mississauga, and continues onto the Gardiner Expressway at the Humber. The usual exit is at York/Bay/Yonge, which brings the car down within a block of the station. When the Gardiner is closed or crawling, the chauffeur switches to Lake Shore Boulevard. The 407 ETR is rarely useful for a downtown trip, but the fare allows it if the QEW is blocked. Live conditions: Ontario 511.
Timing by time of day
- Before 7 a.m.: 50–55 minutes.
- 7–10 a.m. weekdays: inbound to the core is at its worst; 70–80 minutes. This is when the GO train shines.
- 10 a.m.–3 p.m.: 55–60 minutes.
- 3–7 p.m. weekdays: outbound traffic dominates; heading to Union takes 60–70 minutes, Union Station to Hamilton can take 75–85.
- Evenings and weekends: 50–60 minutes, unless there is a game at Scotiabank Arena, which is directly across Bay Street.
Scotiabank Arena is next door
Union Station shares its block with the Scotiabank Arena, home of the Maple Leafs and Raptors and a major concert venue. On event nights Bay Street, Lake Shore and the Gardiner exits around the station fill up an hour before start time and again when the crowd leaves. If your train or pickup falls in that window, the dispatcher will suggest a slightly earlier time, or a curb on the west side near York Street. For taking a group to the game itself, see Hamilton to downtown Toronto.

Connecting to UP Express for Pearson
The UP Express runs between Union Station and Pearson Terminal 1. Some Hamilton travellers ask us to drop them at Union, work downtown for a morning, then take UP to the airport. It works, but for most Hamilton trips the direct Hamilton to Pearson limo is simpler and quicker; there is no reason to go downtown unless you have business there.
Hourly option: Union, meetings and back
If your day includes a train and several stops, book by the hour. Our lead product is the hourly chauffeur service in Hamilton: one car and one chauffeur for a 3-hour minimum at a business-sedan planning rate of $120–145 per hour. Example: pick up a colleague arriving on the VIA train at Union, drive to two client offices on King Street and in Liberty Village, then return to Hamilton. That is a 4 or 5 hour booking, one fare, with the chauffeur waiting at each stop. A 4-hour sedan booking is $480–580 all-in plus HST. The private chauffeur page explains how waiting and stops are handled.
Luggage, families and accessibility
Station curbs are busy, so we load quickly. A business sedan holds three passengers and three bags; an executive SUV or luxury van holds six of each. Child seats are available on request for a planning figure of $10–15 each, added at booking. Union Station has elevators between the concourses and the street; if a traveller needs help from the platform, meet and greet puts the chauffeur inside the station to assist.
Hamilton's own stations
Not every trip needs Toronto. VIA and GO also serve Aldershot station in Burlington, and GO serves Hamilton GO Centre and West Harbour GO. If you just need to get to the train, a short run to one of those is a fraction of the Union fare; see Aldershot station transfers.
A typical VIA morning, step by step
Say you are catching an 8 a.m. VIA train to Ottawa. Dispatch will suggest a 6:15 a.m. pickup from downtown Hamilton, allowing for the building morning traffic on the QEW through Mississauga and 15 minutes to get from the curb to the VIA boarding area. The chauffeur messages the night before, arrives 10 minutes early, loads the bags and texts which Front Street door you will be dropped at. You walk into the station with 30 to 40 minutes to spare, a comfortable margin; check VIA's own guidance on arrival times for checked bags. On the way home, the chauffeur watches your return train's status from Hamilton and times the drive to meet it, so a late arrival from Montreal does not mean a long wait on the curb.
Late-night arrivals and the last train problem
GO service thins out in the late evening, and a late VIA arrival or a delayed connection can leave Hamilton travellers at Union with no convenient train home. That is one of the most common reasons people call us at short notice. We take same-day bookings when a car and chauffeur are free, but the reliable approach is to book ahead with the train number: if the train is on time you are home within the hour, and if it is late the chauffeur is still there, watching the same live status you are.
Booking and cancellation
Book on HamiltonLimo.net's own reservation engine on the booking page. You see a fixed fare before you pay, get a confirmation, then chauffeur details before pickup. Cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 %; 48 hours or less, 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 %. More detail on the station itself is on our Union Station Toronto page.
