A prom limo in Hamilton is booked by the hour: a stretch limousine seats 8–10 at $350–450/h (4 h minimum), an executive SUV seats 6 at $190–235/h, and a party bus seats 16–36 at $650–750/h, all-in plus HST. Split across a group, most students pay roughly $95–180 each. HamiltonLimo.net enforces no alcohol, a sober chauffeur and a route shared with parents.
Prom limo Hamilton: what parents and students both need
Prom transportation has two customers. Students want the car, the photos and the arrival. Parents want to know who is driving, where the car is going and that nothing on board will get anyone into trouble. A good prom limo booking satisfies both, and that is how we plan it.
Every prom and graduation booking with HamiltonLimo.net includes a written itinerary, a named parent contact, a professional chauffeur who does not drink, and a firm no-alcohol rule for anyone under 19. Stretch limousines and party buses come from vetted partner operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network; executive SUVs and Sprinters come from our own fleet. Either way, one dispatch desk runs the night.
Prom limo prices for Hamilton groups
All figures are planning ranges including the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel and gratuity, with HST shown separately. The reservation engine or a coordinator confirms the exact fare.
| Vehicle | Seats | Minimum | Planning range | Typical prom booking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business SUV (Tahoe / Yukon type) | 5 | 3 h | $145–175/h | 3 h: about $435–525 |
| Executive SUV | 6 | 3 h | $190–235/h | 3 h: about $570–705 |
| Stretch limousine (partner) | 8–10 | 4 h | $350–450/h | 4 h: about $1,400–1,800 |
| Sprinter | 14 | 3 h | $330–385/h | 4 h: about $1,320–1,540 |
| Jet Sprinter (VIP lounge) | 7 | 3 h | $650–750/h | 4 h: about $2,600–3,000 |
| Party bus (partner) | 16–36 | 4–5 h | $650–750/h | 5 h: about $3,250–3,750 |
The hourly model matters for prom: the car waits at photo stops and stays for the venue arrival, and a separate late pickup can be booked if students need a ride home at the end.
Splitting the cost across the group
Most prom groups split one vehicle, which makes the per-student price reasonable. Some worked ranges, before HST:
- Six friends in an executive SUV for three hours: about $95–118 each.
- Ten friends in a stretch limousine for four hours: about $140–180 each.
- Fourteen friends in a Sprinter for four hours: about $94–110 each.
- Thirty friends on a party bus for five hours: about $108–125 each.
One parent should book and pay, then collect contributions from the other families in advance. It keeps one contact for dispatch and avoids money conversations on prom night.
Schools and proms across Hamilton and Burlington
We drive students from public and Catholic secondary schools across the city and region, including schools in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, and, in Burlington, the Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board, plus private schools. We are not affiliated with any school.
Proms are usually held at banquet halls, hotels, golf clubs and event venues rather than at the school, and many schools set their own arrival rules, dress codes and bag checks. Share your school's prom information sheet with us at booking so the chauffeur knows the drop-off door and arrival window.
Parent concerns: our prom rules, in writing
These rules are part of every prom and graduation booking and are shared with the parent contact:
- No alcohol, cannabis or drugs on board. Ontario's legal drinking age is 19; provincial liquor rules are administered by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The bar console is emptied except for bottled water.
- A sober, professional chauffeur, licensed and background-checked by the operator, who never drinks and stays with the vehicle.
- The route is shared with parents before the night: every pickup, photo stop, the venue, and the final drop-off addresses.
- A named parent contact whom dispatch can reach, and who can reach dispatch, at any point in the evening.
- No unplanned stops or passengers. Changes need the parent contact's approval through dispatch.
If the rules are broken, the chauffeur stops the vehicle safely, calls dispatch and the parent contact, and the booking may end.

What happens on prom night, step by step
A typical Hamilton prom evening runs like this:
- 5:00 p.m. The chauffeur arrives 10–15 minutes early at the first home, meets the parents and confirms the itinerary.
- 5:15–5:45 p.m. Pickups at two or three homes, usually within one neighbourhood.
- 6:00 p.m. A photo stop at a park or the waterfront; parents often meet the group there.
- 6:45 p.m. Arrival at the prom venue; the chauffeur waits or is released depending on the booking.
- Late pickup at the scheduled end time, with drop-offs at the addresses on the itinerary only.
Dispatch messages the parent contact at pickup, at venue arrival and at the final drop-off.
Photo stops for prom and graduation
Popular Hamilton backdrops include Bayfront Park and the waterfront trail, Gage Park, and the gardens around the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. Photography rules vary by property. The Royal Botanical Gardens sells photography permits for non-wedding sessions, and the Hamilton Conservation Authority requires permits for professional photography and currently does not issue them in waterfall areas.
For a casual group photo taken by parents, a public park is usually simplest. Allow 20–30 minutes for a photo stop and choose a location on the way to the venue so it does not eat into the booking. See Hamilton waterfalls and the Hamilton waterfront for access notes.
Booking timing: prom season is short and busy
Most Hamilton and Burlington proms fall in May and June, often on the same few Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and they overlap with weddings for the same stretch limousines and party buses. Our dispatch desk sees the first prom requests in January.
Our advice: book your vehicle as soon as your school publishes its prom date, ideally in February or March. SUVs and Sprinters from our own fleet stay available longer, but partner stretch limousines and party buses for the peak dates can be fully booked by April. Start at book your prom limo.
Choosing the right vehicle for your group
Match the vehicle to the headcount first, then to the look:
- Four to six students: an executive SUV is comfortable, looks sharp and has a three-hour minimum.
- Six to ten: a stretch limo in Hamilton gives the classic prom arrival.
- Ten to fourteen: a Sprinter seats everyone with forward-facing belts and full headroom for gowns.
- Sixteen and up: a party bus rental in Hamilton keeps a large friend group together, with the same no-alcohol rules.
Every student needs a belted seat; the chauffeur will not leave with extra passengers.

Graduation and convocation: McMaster and Mohawk
Graduation is not only high school. McMaster University and Mohawk College hold convocation ceremonies in spring and, at McMaster, again later in the year; exact dates are set by each institution, so check their sites. Families often want a car that collects grandparents, waits through the ceremony and takes everyone to dinner.
This is where the hourly chauffeur service in Hamilton fits naturally: a luxury van or executive SUV for three to five hours, collecting relatives from Pearson or YHM in the morning, then campus, then dinner. Campus roads are busy on convocation days, so allow extra time and agree a pickup point with the chauffeur. See graduation and convocation transportation.
After-parties and the ride home
The most important trip of prom night is often the last one. Students may leave the venue for a supervised after-party at a family home; parents want to know the car goes there and nowhere else.
We handle that with a second, separate booking: a late pickup at the venue at the end time, and drop-offs at the addresses parents have approved. If plans change, the parent contact confirms through dispatch before the chauffeur changes course. For students heading home separately, individual sedans at set times are an option, and every address stays on the written itinerary.
Cancellation and changes for prom bookings
Prom bookings follow the sitewide cancellation policy, measured from the scheduled pickup:
| Notice before pickup | Charge |
|---|---|
| More than 72 hours | No charge |
| 72 hours or less | 10 % |
| 48 hours or less | 50 % |
| 24 hours or less, or no-show | 100 % |
Friend groups change in the weeks before prom. If your headcount drops, tell us more than 72 hours ahead and we can often move you to a smaller vehicle at no charge, subject to availability.
Winter formals and spring weather
Some schools hold winter formals in December or February. Those nights bring snow and early darkness, and pickups on the Mountain use the gentler accesses, such as the Claremont Access or the Linc, in bad conditions. The chauffeur checks Ontario 511 before leaving.
Spring proms bring rain more often than heat. Chauffeurs carry umbrellas and pull as close to the door as the venue allows. For outdoor photo stops, keep a covered backup such as a porch or a hotel lobby.
Gowns, corsages and what to bring
Formal wear changes how a car loads. Long gowns and hoop skirts need a vehicle with a wide door and high roof, which is why many groups of ten choose a Sprinter over a stretch limousine. Students should carry a small bag each rather than backpacks; there is little floor space in a full cabin.
Corsages and boutonnieres go on before pickup, since pinning flowers in a moving vehicle is awkward. Phones should be charged, and every student should carry the parent contact's number and the final drop-off address in case the group splits up. The chauffeur keeps bottled water on board; food is best left for the venue.
Accessibility and students with extra needs
If a student uses a wheelchair or mobility aid, or has a medical condition the chauffeur should know about, tell us at booking. Some partner vehicles have a step and a narrow door, so we may recommend an executive SUV or luxury van with easier access, or a second vehicle travelling alongside the group. The goal is simple: every student arrives with the group, not separately.
Why parents book prom transportation direct
Booking direct with HamiltonLimo.net gives parents one company, one dispatch desk and one written itinerary, with no app and no marketplace passing the job along. The fixed all-in fare includes gratuity, and the rules above are part of the booking, not a promise made on the phone.
If you want to talk through the rules before booking, our dispatch desk will walk through the plan with you. For more on etiquette and what the chauffeur will and will not do, see the chauffeur tipping and etiquette guide.
