A Sprinter van with driver from HamiltonLimo.net costs a planning range of $330–385 per hour, all-in with fuel, tolls and gratuity, plus HST, with a three-hour minimum. Three hours is $990–1,155, five hours $1,650–1,925 and eight hours $2,640–3,080. With fourteen passengers aboard, an eight-hour day works out to about $189–220 each before tax.
Sprinter van with driver: the hourly cost at a glance
A Sprinter is booked by the vehicle, not the seat, and by the hour, not the kilometre. That makes the cost easy to predict once you know how long the group needs it. Our Sprinter group transportation page describes the vehicle, the licensing and typical group uses; this post answers the two questions organisers ask next: what will it cost for my hours, and will my people and their things actually fit?
| Hours booked | Sprinter, all-in before HST | With HST (13 %) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 (minimum) | $990–1,155 | $1,119–1,305 | Airport group pickup, short event |
| 4 | $1,320–1,540 | $1,492–1,740 | Game or concert with pickups |
| 5 | $1,650–1,925 | $1,865–2,175 | Wedding party, dinner out |
| 6 | $1,980–2,310 | $2,237–2,610 | Brewery afternoon, tournament day |
| 8 | $2,640–3,080 | $2,983–3,480 | Niagara wine day, corporate offsite |
| 10 | $3,300–3,850 | $3,729–4,351 | Long wedding day, Toronto day trip |
Tax-inclusive figures are rounded to the dollar. Extra time beyond what you booked is added in 30-minute blocks at the same hourly rate.
What the hourly number includes
The Sprinter rate is all-in: the vehicle, a chauffeur licensed for a vehicle of this size, fuel, Highway 407 ETR tolls if the route uses the 407, airport commercial pickup fees and gratuity. HST sits on its own line. There is no kilometre charge, so a day that goes to Niagara-on-the-Lake (about 70 km and 50–60 minutes from downtown Hamilton) costs the same per hour as a day that stays in the lower city.
This matters when you compare quotes. Some group-transport prices elsewhere add a gratuity percentage, a fuel surcharge or a "garage time" charge on top of the advertised hourly rate. When you read any quote, check whether those are inside or outside the number. On HamiltonLimo.net's reservation engine the fixed figure shown before you confirm is the figure you pay.
Cost per seat for 8, 10, 12 and 14 people
The per-person cost is where a Sprinter wins. The table divides each booking by the number of people, rounded, before HST.
| Booking | 8 people | 10 people | 12 people | 14 people |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 hours ($990–1,155) | $124–144 | $99–116 | $83–96 | $71–83 |
| 5 hours ($1,650–1,925) | $206–241 | $165–193 | $138–160 | $118–138 |
| 8 hours ($2,640–3,080) | $330–385 | $264–308 | $220–257 | $189–220 |
The lesson is simple: invite before you book. A Sprinter carrying eight people costs the same as one carrying fourteen, and six extra friends cut everyone's share by more than a third.
Is a Sprinter cheaper than two SUVs?
For groups of seven to twelve, organisers often wonder whether two executive SUVs would be better. On price the Sprinter usually wins: two SUVs by the hour run $380–470 per hour combined, against $330–385 for one Sprinter. Over eight hours the gap is roughly $400–700.
Two SUVs make sense in three situations:
- The group splits during the day. Half go to the golf course, half go shopping.
- Pickups are far apart. One car collects in Waterdown, the other in Binbrook, and both meet at the venue.
- Some passengers leave early. A family with young children can head home at 9 p.m. while the rest stay.
If the group travels as one unit from start to finish, book the Sprinter. For the SUV option, see luxury SUV service and our post on an SUV with a driver for the day.

What fits in a Sprinter: people
Fourteen forward-facing passenger seats is the design. In practice, dispatch plans around three comfort levels:
- Up to 10 adults: everyone has a seat with space either side for a bag or coat. The right load for a long day.
- 11 to 12 adults: comfortable for trips up to about an hour each way, which covers Pearson, Niagara and downtown Toronto from Hamilton.
- 13 to 14 adults: fine for local trips and events; tight on a long drive with winter coats and shopping bags.
Every passenger needs a seat and a seatbelt, including children. Car seats (infant, convertible or booster, planning figure $10–15 each) are added at booking and each one occupies a passenger seat.
What fits in a Sprinter: luggage
The rear area holds roughly one standard checked suitcase per passenger when the van is full. Real groups rarely pack like that, so here are the combinations dispatch sees most:
| Group | Passengers | Luggage | Fits in one Sprinter? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airport family reunion | 12 | 12 large cases, 8 carry-ons | Yes, carry-ons at feet |
| Golf trip | 8 | 8 golf bags, 8 small bags | Yes, with seats to spare |
| Hockey team | 12 | 12 hockey bags, sticks | Tight; add a second vehicle for bags |
| Ski weekend | 10 | 10 bags, 10 pairs of skis | Only with a ski box; ask dispatch |
| Wedding party | 14 | Dresses on hangers, small bags | Yes |
When in doubt, describe the luggage in the booking notes. A second vehicle following the Sprinter is cheaper than a group standing at the curb.
Where the hours go on a group day
Organisers usually underestimate the time, because a group moves more slowly than a couple. Plan with these realistic figures:
- Each extra residential pickup: 10–15 minutes.
- Boarding fourteen people with bags: 10 minutes at the start and at the end.
- Each stop on a crawl or tour: add 10 minutes for everyone to leave and return.
- Collecting after a stadium or arena event: 20–30 minutes for the crowd to clear.
The clock starts at the first scheduled pickup and stops at the final drop. A five-pickup start costs roughly an hour before the day has really begun, so a central meeting point, such as a single house or a hotel lobby, saves money.
Sprinter vs stretch limousine vs party bus, per hour
| Vehicle | Seats | Hourly planning range | Minimum | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sprinter (own fleet) | 14 | $330–385 | 3 h | Moving a group in comfort |
| Jet Sprinter (VIP lounge) | 7 | $650–750 | 3 h | Captain's chairs and work tables, meeting on the move |
| Stretch limousine (partner) | 8–10 | $350–450 | 4 h | The classic celebration look |
| Party bus (partner) | 16–36 | $650–750 | 4–5 h | The ride as the party |
The Sprinter is not a party vehicle: seats face forward, and it is quiet enough to talk. For a prom or a bachelorette where the vehicle is part of the fun, compare our party bus vs limo post. For fifteen to twenty people who want seats rather than a dance floor, two Sprinters are often cheaper than a coach.
Five Sprinter days, costed
- Brewery afternoon, 10 friends, 5 hours: $1,650–1,925, about $165–193 each. See brewery and distillery tours.
- Company visitors from Pearson to a Hamilton plant and back, 12 people, 6 hours: $1,980–2,310, about $165–193 each.
- Tiger-Cats game with dinner, 14 fans, 4 hours: $1,320–1,540, about $94–110 each. Check kickoff on the Tiger-Cats site.
- Niagara wine day, 12 people, 8 hours: $2,640–3,080, about $220–257 each.
- Family reunion airport shuttle, 13 people, 3 hours: $990–1,155 for a Pearson pickup with a stop, about $76–89 each.
Each is a planning figure from downtown Hamilton, all-in before HST.
One-way or hourly for a Sprinter?
A single transfer, such as Hamilton to Pearson (about 70 km, 45–65 minutes), is usually cheaper one way at about 2.75 times the sedan fare, roughly $675–825. Book hourly once the group needs the van to wait, visit several places or come back later. A round trip to a Toronto concert, for example, is two one-way fares plus the chauffeur's time in the city; four to five hours is normally the better booking. Our point-to-point vs hourly post walks through the logic.

When not to book a Sprinter
Being honest saves everyone money. A Sprinter is the wrong choice when:
- You are six or fewer. A business SUV (a Tahoe or Yukon for up to five) at $145–175 per hour, or an executive SUV or luxury van for six at $190–235, does the job.
- The group will scatter. Separate cars are simpler than a big van waiting for stragglers.
- Everyone lives near a GO station and the event is downtown Toronto. GO Transit trains from Hamilton are cheaper per head; the Sprinter wins only when you need door-to-door or late-night return.
Peak dates for Sprinters
Sprinters are the first class to sell out on Saturdays from May to October, in prom and graduation weeks, during the Niagara harvest in September and October, and in December party season. On those dates, book four to eight weeks ahead. Midweek and winter bookings can often be made days ahead. The cancellation rule is measured from scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 %; 48 hours or less, 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 %. The full seasonal picture is in how far in advance to book a limo.
Group airport pickups: how the hours work
Arriving groups are one of the most common Sprinter bookings. A twelve-person family landing together at Toronto Pearson can book one way (about $675–825 from the airport to downtown Hamilton) and get the standard included wait: 30 minutes from actual landing on Canadian domestic and US flights, 60 minutes on other international arrivals. If the group lands on two different flights, or wants a stop at a grocery store on the way home, book three or four hours instead so nobody watches the clock at the carousel. The chauffeur tracks the flights on the Toronto Pearson arrivals board and waits in the commercial pickup area; a meet and greet inside arrivals is an optional add-on at a planning figure of $25–35.
Winter days in a Sprinter
A Sprinter is tall and long, so in winter the chauffeur avoids the steepest escarpment accesses and uses the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway and the Red Hill Valley Parkway to move between the lower city and the Mountain. On snowy mornings add 15–20 minutes to the first pickup, and check Ontario 511 before a long drive on the QEW. The price does not change with the weather; only the timing does.
Booking the Sprinter direct
Choose the Sprinter on HamiltonLimo.net's own reservation engine, select "hourly", enter the first pickup and the hours, and list every pickup address and the luggage in the notes. The fixed all-in fare appears before you confirm, with HST on its own line. There is no app to install and no marketplace in the middle; one dispatch desk handles it. Groups staying in hotels can find pickup details on our Burlington hotels and Niagara Falls hotels pages. Full vehicle dimensions are on the fleet page, and the complete rate card is on rates.
