Golf courses near Hamilton include the City's two public facilities, Chedoke (two 18-hole courses) and King's Forest in the Red Hill Valley, plus clubs across Ancaster, Flamborough and Waterdown such as Flamborough Hills. A chauffeured golf day for a foursome is usually five to six hours in an executive SUV at $190–235 per hour, about $950–1,410 all-in plus HST, bags included.
Golf courses near Hamilton: where a chauffeured day usually goes
Hamilton is a good golf city. The escarpment, the Red Hill Valley and the farmland of Flamborough and Ancaster give courses real elevation and character within half an hour of downtown. A golf day with a chauffeur is one of the clearest cases for our hourly chauffeur service in Hamilton: the car takes the group and the bags out, waits through the round, and brings everyone home after the drink in the clubhouse. This post lists courses our chauffeurs drive to, times a typical day and prices it honestly.
Course details, tee times, dress codes and guest policies belong to the courses themselves, so check each one directly before you book the car.
Public courses run by the City of Hamilton
The City of Hamilton golf page lists two municipal facilities:
- Chedoke Golf Club, on the escarpment in the west end, with two 18-hole courses, the Beddoe and the Martin. The club's history goes back to 1896. From downtown it is a short drive up the Mountain, typically 10–15 minutes.
- King's Forest Golf Club, in the Red Hill Valley at the foot of the escarpment in the east end, opened in 1974. From downtown it is about 15–20 minutes via the lower city or the Red Hill Valley Parkway.
Both are public, which makes them the easiest choice for visitors and for a spontaneous corporate round.
Public and semi-private courses beyond the city core
West and north of Hamilton, Flamborough and the Waterdown area hold several courses open to the public or to guests. Flamborough Hills Golf Club in Copetown has 27 holes and describes itself as a public course; it is roughly 25–30 minutes from downtown by Highway 403 and Highway 52. Carlisle Golf and Country Club and Dragon's Fire Golf Club sit north of Waterdown around Carlisle, roughly 30 minutes from downtown on Highway 6 or the rural roads.
Private clubs such as the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, which has hosted the RBC Canadian Open, generally require a member to host guests. If a member has invited you, the chauffeur simply needs the club name and your tee time.
| Course or area | Access | Approx. drive from downtown Hamilton |
|---|---|---|
| Chedoke (Beddoe and Martin) | Public, City of Hamilton | 10–15 min |
| King's Forest, Red Hill Valley | Public, City of Hamilton | 15–20 min |
| Ancaster clubs | Private or member-hosted | 15–20 min |
| Flamborough Hills, Copetown | Public | 25–30 min |
| Carlisle area (Carlisle, Dragon's Fire) | Check each club | about 30 min |
| Niagara Bench and Grimsby | Check each club | 25–40 min |
Drive times are approximate for normal traffic. Check each club's policy before booking.
A chauffeured golf day, minute by minute
Here is a typical Saturday for four friends playing a public course west of Hamilton with a 9:10 a.m. tee time.
- 7:45 a.m. Executive SUV collects the first player in Westdale; bags go in the rear with the third row folded.
- 8:05 a.m. Second and third pickups in Ancaster.
- 8:25 a.m. Fourth pickup near the Meadowlands.
- 8:45 a.m. Arrive at the course, 25 minutes before the tee time. The chauffeur unloads at the bag drop.
- 9:10 a.m.–1:45 p.m. The round. The chauffeur waits in the lot and is reachable by text.
- 1:45–2:45 p.m. Lunch and a drink in the clubhouse.
- 3:00–3:45 p.m. Four drop-offs in reverse order.
Eight hours from first pickup to last drop is $1,520–1,880 in an executive SUV, before HST, about $380–470 per player. Starting from one meeting point instead of four homes can cut an hour, saving $190–235.
Six hours or eight? Timing the round honestly
Golfers remember the round, not the day around it. Build the booking from these realistic figures:
- Pickups: 10–15 minutes each after the first.
- Arriving before the tee time: 20–30 minutes for check-in and the range.
- Eighteen holes for a foursome: about four to four and a half hours, longer on busy weekends.
- Nineteenth hole: 45–60 minutes if lunch is involved.
- Drop-offs: 10–15 minutes each.
A nine-hole twilight round with a central pickup fits in the three-hour minimum. Eighteen holes with lunch and four home pickups needs seven to eight.
Which vehicle for a golf day?
| Group | Vehicle | Hourly planning range | 6-hour day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 players, 2 bags | Business sedan | $120–145 | $720–870 |
| 3–4 players, 4 bags, lighter budget | Business SUV | $145–175 | $870–1,050 |
| 3–4 players, 4 bags | Executive SUV | $190–235 | $1,140–1,410 |
| 4 players, 4 bags, one needs easy access | Luxury van | $190–235 | $1,140–1,410 |
| 8–12 players, bags | Sprinter | $330–385 | $1,980–2,310 |
| 4–5 players, 5 bags, VIP lounge | Jet Sprinter | $650–750 | $3,900–4,500 |
A sedan's trunk takes two full staff bags, sometimes three carry bags. Tell dispatch the number and type of bags, and whether anyone brings a push cart, so the right vehicle arrives. For larger groups, see Sprinter group transportation.

Why golfers book a chauffeur at all
The obvious reason is the drink after the round. Ontario's impaired-driving rules are strict, and a chauffeur removes the question entirely. There are others:
- One vehicle, one conversation. The group arrives together and leaves together.
- No parking scramble on a busy Saturday at a popular course.
- Clients and guests from out of town do not need to find a rural course in Flamborough.
- Early tee times in the dark or late rounds into dusk are easier with someone else driving.
Corporate golf days
Companies use chauffeured golf for client entertainment and team events. A typical corporate booking is two or three executive SUVs or one Sprinter, collecting guests at a downtown hotel or the office, driving to the course for a shotgun start, waiting through the tournament dinner, and returning everyone to hotels or homes. A coordinator can price multi-vehicle days in writing, and a corporate account puts everything on one invoice with HST shown separately. See corporate car service and corporate events and galas.
Golf visitors staying in hotels
Visiting golfers often base themselves downtown or in Burlington and play two or three courses across a weekend. A chauffeur collects the group at the hotel door each morning; our downtown Hamilton hotels and Ancaster and Mountain hotels pages explain where cars stop. Arriving by air, Hamilton airport is 15 km and 20–25 minutes from downtown; Pearson is about 70 km and 45–65 minutes. Golf bags travel as checked luggage, so an SUV is the right vehicle for the airport run too.
Golf plus wine or a Niagara round
A popular variation pairs a morning round with an afternoon at wineries on the Beamsville Bench or in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The drive from Hamilton to Niagara-on-the-Lake is about 70 km and 50–60 minutes on the QEW. Ten hours in an executive SUV, $1,900–2,350 before HST, covers eighteen holes, lunch, two tastings and the drive home. Our private driver for a Niagara wine tour post has itineraries for the wine half.
Golf-day mistakes the dispatch desk sees
- Booking from the tee time, not the first pickup. The clock starts when the chauffeur collects the first player, often more than an hour before the tee.
- Too many pickups. Four home addresses spread across Waterdown, Stoney Creek and Binbrook can take an hour. Meet at one house.
- Forgetting the nineteenth hole. If lunch is part of the plan, add an hour to the booking rather than paying overtime in 30-minute blocks.
- Sending a sedan for four bags. Count the bags at booking. A sedan that cannot close its trunk is a bad start to a round.
- Not checking the course's guest policy. Private clubs need a member host; the car cannot fix that at the gate.
Golf with family: parents, juniors and a birthday round
Golf days are not only for foursomes of friends. A popular booking is a birthday round for a parent, with two generations playing and a dinner afterwards on Locke Street or in Dundas. A luxury van makes sense here: sliding doors, room for bags and an easy step for an older golfer. For juniors heading to a tournament with a parent, a business sedan with two bags is enough, and the chauffeur waits while the parent walks the course. Car seats for younger siblings are available on request at a planning figure of $10–15 each.
Season and weather
Hamilton's golf season generally runs from spring into late autumn, depending on the weather and each course's schedule; the City has also offered winter golf at Chedoke's Martin course in some seasons, so check its page. On wet days the chauffeur keeps towels and umbrellas in the car. If the course closes for weather, call dispatch as early as possible; the cancellation rule is measured from scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 %; 48 hours or less, 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 %. If a storm stops play mid-round, the chauffeur can take the group home early; booked hours or the minimum still apply. Golf Canada publishes national golf information for players planning further afield.

What a chauffeured golf day includes
The vehicle, the chauffeur, fuel, 407 ETR tolls if used and gratuity are all inside the planning range. Green fees, carts, range balls and clubhouse bills are yours. The chauffeur does not need to be bought lunch, although some groups like to.
Extra time is billed in 30-minute blocks at the same hourly rate, so a slow back nine that pushes the day ten minutes past the booking costs one half hour, not a full hour. Child seats, meet and greet at an airport and any extra vehicles are the only add-ons, and all of them appear on the screen before you confirm. There is no surge on sunny Saturdays in June.
Booking your golf day direct
Choose "hourly" on HamiltonLimo.net's reservation engine, pick the vehicle, enter the first pickup, and list the other addresses, the course, the tee time and the bags in the notes. One fixed all-in figure appears on screen, HST itemised separately, before you commit. For Saturdays from May to September, book at least one to two weeks ahead, since SUVs and Sprinters are also in demand for weddings. For whole-day pricing, see how much a limo costs for a full day.
