Cambridge to Pearson airport is about 75 km on Highway 401, 45 to 60 minutes by car in normal traffic and up to 80 minutes at the worst times. A private sedan booked direct is a planning $240–295 all-in plus HST. Cambridge has no GO train station, so transit usually means a bus to a GO connection and then UP Express.
The fares, neighbourhood pickups and booking button are on our Cambridge limo service page. This post goes deeper on one thing: planning the Pearson run from Cambridge around the 401, which is both the reason the trip is fast and the reason it sometimes isn't.
The route in one paragraph
Chauffeurs join the 401 eastbound at Hespeler Road, Franklin Boulevard or Townline Road depending on where you live, then run past Milton and Mississauga to the airport interchanges at Highway 427 and Highway 409. When the 401 is backed up through Mississauga, the alternative is Highway 407 ETR from Milton; any toll is already inside your fixed fare. Details of the toll road are on the 407 ETR site.
Hour by hour: how long the drive takes
These are dispatch planning times from central Cambridge to the terminal curb on a weekday:
- 3 am to 5:30 am: 45 to 50 minutes. The fastest window.
- 5:30 am to 6:30 am: 50 to 55 minutes, as commuters join past Milton.
- 6:30 am to 9:30 am: 60 to 80 minutes eastbound. Build in the buffer.
- 9:30 am to 2:30 pm: 50 to 60 minutes.
- 2:30 pm to 7 pm: 55 to 75 minutes; the westbound side is worse, which matters on the way home.
- After 8 pm: 45 to 55 minutes.
Weekends are lighter, except Friday and Sunday afternoons in summer, when cottage traffic crowds the 401.

Why there is no simple transit trip
Cambridge does not have a GO train station. Public transit to Pearson normally means a Grand River Transit or GO bus to a GO connection, the train or bus onward, and UP Express from Union Station or a bus link to the airport. It can be done cheaply, but it takes two and a half to three hours and several changes. Plan it on the GO Transit trip planner and check GRT for the local leg. For a solo traveller with a backpack on a Tuesday afternoon, fine. For a 6 am flight with a family, no.
Picking the right pickup time
- Find your airline's recommended arrival time and check Toronto Pearson for terminal advice.
- Add the drive time for your hour from the list above.
- Add 10 minutes for the chauffeur to load bags and for the drop-off lane at the terminal.
- In winter, add 20 to 30 minutes if snow is forecast.
Worked example: a 10:15 am flight to New York needs you at Terminal 1 or 3 by 8:15 am. That arrival falls in the morning peak, so allow 75 minutes, plus 10: pickup at 6:50 am.

Business travellers along the 401 corridor
Cambridge's manufacturing and logistics employers bring engineers, auditors and customers through Pearson every week. Many arrive for a two-day visit: hotel, plant, dinner, plant again, airport. Booking four separate one-way trips works, but an hourly chauffeur for the busy day is often simpler. A business sedan is a planning $120–145 per hour, 3-hour minimum; an executive SUV $190–235. The chauffeur waits during the plant tour, which removes the uncertainty of calling a car from a site on the edge of town. Companies that book regularly can open an account on our corporate car service page.
A two-day supplier visit, laid out
Here is a realistic plan for two engineers flying in from Detroit to visit a Cambridge supplier:
- Day 1, 11:40 am: US flight lands at Pearson; 30 minutes of waiting is included from actual landing.
- 12:20 pm: executive SUV departs with two people, two cases and a sample crate.
- 1:20 pm: arrival at the plant; the chauffeur waits while the team is on the floor.
- 5:30 pm: drive to a hotel on Hespeler Road, then dinner nearby.
- Day 2, 7:30 am: pickup at the hotel, back to the plant for the morning.
- 12:30 pm: lunch, then depart for a 4:30 pm flight home, leaving time for US preclearance.
Booked as a 7-hour hourly block on day 1 and a 6-hour block on day 2 in an executive SUV at $190–235 per hour, that is a planning $2,470–3,055 all-in plus HST for both days, no rental car, no parking, and no one navigating an industrial park they have never seen.
Sports teams and tournament groups
Cambridge hosts hockey, soccer and baseball tournaments, and visiting teams often fly into Pearson. A 14-seat Sprinter carries a small team and its kit, at a planning $330–385 per hour with a 3-hour minimum, or a fixed one-way fare of about $655–805 to or from the airport. Bigger groups need two Sprinters, or a coach from one of our vetted partner operators, priced in writing by a coordinator. Tell us the number of hockey bags at booking; they take more room than suitcases.
What happens at the terminal
At departures, the chauffeur pulls into the drop-off lane for your terminal, unloads the bags onto the curb or a cart, and you walk in. At arrivals, you collect your bags, clear customs if coming from abroad, and walk out to the commercial pickup area, where the chauffeur is waiting with the car. If you would like to be met inside at the arrivals exit with a name board, add meet and greet when you book.
Families flying from Cambridge
A family of four with car seats is the classic case for an SUV or luxury van. The planning fare of $370–475 divided four ways is about $95–120 per person, and car seats are added at booking at a planning $10–15 each. The chauffeur installs them before pickup. Compare that with a week of airport parking and the stress of finding the car at midnight when you land.
Arriving at Pearson and heading home
On the return we track your flight. Canadian domestic and US arrivals include 30 minutes of waiting from actual landing, international arrivals 60 minutes, then 15-minute blocks. Pickup is at the commercial pickup curb outside arrivals; meet and greet inside the hall, with a name board, is an optional add-on at a planning $25–35. The westbound 401 from 3 pm onwards is the slowest part of the whole journey, so tired travellers landing mid-afternoon should expect 70 minutes or more to Cambridge.
Waterloo airport or Hamilton airport instead?
Region of Waterloo International Airport in Breslau is about 20 km from Cambridge, planning $95–120, and Hamilton's airport in Mount Hope is about 60 km, planning $190–230. Both have far fewer routes than Pearson and schedules that change; check waterlooairport.ca and flyhamilton.ca. When one of them has your flight, it saves time. Our Hamilton airport limo page covers pickups in Mount Hope.
Six planning mistakes on the Cambridge run
- Using a map app's 3 am estimate for a 7 am departure.
- Choosing a sedan for four adults with golf bags. Book an SUV or van.
- Forgetting that some US-bound flights need extra time for preclearance.
- Not telling us about a side entrance or a gated community in Hespeler.
- Booking a taxi on the day during a snowstorm, when every car in town is busy.
- Planning to drop a rental car at Pearson and forgetting the return-lot shuttle time.
Winter mornings
The 401 between Cambridge and Milton catches snow squalls, and the hills near the Niagara Escarpment crossing can ice up. Dispatch checks 511 Ontario through the night before early pickups and will call if a pickup time needs to move. If the 401 closes, the route switches to Highway 7 or the 407.

Parking at Pearson vs a return transfer
For a week away, the comparison usually goes like this. Driving yourself costs fuel for about 150 km, possible 407 tolls, and a week of airport parking, plus the parking shuttle each way and the drive home after a long flight. A return transfer in a sedan is two planning fares of $240–295, all-in. For one person on a short trip, parking often wins. For a couple or a family away for a week or more, the gap narrows or reverses, and nobody has to drive at midnight. Our post on Pearson parking vs a car shows the full sums from Hamilton; the Cambridge numbers follow the same pattern.
Staying near the airport before a very early flight
For a 6 am departure, some Cambridge families prefer to spend the night near Pearson and take the hotel shuttle in the morning. We can drive you to the hotel the evening before; see Pearson airport hotels for the lobby doors. Neighbours in Kitchener and Guelph have their own versions of this guide, and Cambridge travellers heading south should read Cambridge to Hamilton.
Booking for someone else
Plenty of Cambridge bookings are made by an adult child for a parent, an assistant for an executive, or a host for a visiting guest. The person booking pays and receives the confirmation; add the traveller's name and mobile number so the chauffeur can reach them directly on the day, and note anything the chauffeur should know, such as a hearing impairment or a first visit to Canada.
Book direct
Book on the HamiltonLimo.net reservation engine: one dispatch desk, a fixed fare, no surge and no app. Cancellation is free until 72 hours before pickup; 10 % applies inside 72 hours, 50 % inside 48 hours and 100 % inside 24 hours or for a no-show.
