Guelph to Pearson airport is about 80 km, 50 to 70 minutes by car via the Hanlon Expressway and Highway 401. A private sedan booked direct is a planning $245–300 all-in plus HST. The cheapest route is the GO Kitchener line from Guelph Central to Union, then UP Express to Terminal 1, about two and a half hours in total.
If you only want the fare and a booking button, our Guelph limo service page has both. This post is for the person weighing it up: a student flying home at the end of term, parents coming in for move-in weekend, a researcher heading to a conference, or a family from Fergus deciding whether to leave a car at the airport for ten days.

Option 1: the GO train and UP Express
Guelph Central Station on Carden Street is on the GO Kitchener line. Trains run east through Georgetown, Brampton and Bramalea to Union Station; from Union, UP Express reaches Pearson Terminal 1. Check GO Transit and UP Express for your travel date, because weekend and off-peak service differs and some trips involve a bus section.
It is the cheapest option by a wide margin. It works well for a student with a backpack and a carry-on on a weekday. It works badly for a 6 am flight, for anyone with two checked bags, and for Terminal 3 flyers who need the terminal link train from Terminal 1.
Option 2: coaches and shared shuttles
Some coach operators and private shared shuttles serve Guelph to Pearson. They cost less than a private car for one person. Before booking, check three things: where exactly the stop is (the university and downtown are not the same place), how many other pickups the vehicle makes, and what happens if your return flight is late. HamiltonLimo.net does not sell shared seats; each booking is a private car.
Option 3: drive and park
Driving yourself is 50 to 70 minutes, plus fuel, the 407 if you use it, and a daily parking charge that adds up quickly over a week. Add the time on the parking shuttle and the walk. For a two-day business trip it can make sense. For a ten-day family holiday, compare the parking bill with a return transfer. Our post on Pearson parking vs a car from Hamilton works through the same sums for a slightly longer drive.
Option 4: a private car, booked direct
This is the service we sell, so here is exactly what you get. A licensed, professional chauffeur arrives at your door at the booked time in a clean business sedan, SUV, van or Sprinter. The fare is fixed before you confirm: no meter, no surge, nothing added at the curb. On arrivals we track the flight, and the chauffeur waits at the commercial pickup curb for 30 minutes after a Canadian domestic or US landing, 60 minutes after other international landings. Meet and greet inside arrivals is an optional add-on, planning $25–35.

University of Guelph weekends
Three weekends a year change the maths:
- Move-in in late August and early September, when parents fly in from out of province with a year's worth of belongings.
- The end of fall exams in December, when students fly home and residence closes.
- The end of winter term in April, when everyone leaves at once.
Cars book up on those dates. Reserve a week or two ahead, and for families bringing boxes and bags, choose an executive SUV or luxury van rather than a sedan. Residence addresses at the University of Guelph are fine; name the building and the nearest parking lot so the chauffeur can meet you at the right door.
A move-in Saturday, as it actually runs
A family from Calgary lands at Pearson on the Friday before move-in with a first-year student, three suitcases, two duffel bags and a desk lamp in a box. Here is the plan we would suggest:
- Friday 4:10 pm: flight lands at Terminal 1; the flight is tracked, and 30 minutes of waiting is included for a domestic arrival.
- 4:40 pm: the family reaches the commercial pickup curb, where an executive SUV is waiting; the chauffeur loads everything.
- 4:50 pm: depart, straight into the Friday afternoon build-up on the 401, so the drive takes closer to 70 minutes than 50.
- 6:05 pm: arrive at a Guelph hotel near the Hanlon; the student moves into residence the next morning.
- Sunday: the parents book the reverse trip for an evening flight home.
One vehicle, two fixed fares, no rental car to return and no parking at residence, where spaces on move-in day are scarce.
Parents, grandparents and passengers who need help
Chauffeurs help every passenger in and out, carry every bag to the terminal door, and can fold and stow a wheelchair or walker for someone who can transfer to a seat. Our own fleet has no ramp-equipped vehicles; for a passenger who needs to travel seated in a wheelchair, we refer you to a specialist accessible provider. For an elderly parent flying alone, add meet and greet on arrival so someone is waiting inside the hall with a name board, then walks with them to the car. Our guide to transportation for elderly parents has more on planning these trips.
Leave-by times from Guelph
Use your airline's check-in advice and Toronto Pearson guidance, then add the drive. From downtown Guelph:
- 6:30 am domestic flight: pickup at 4:15 am.
- 9:30 am transborder flight to the US: pickup at 6 am, allowing for the morning build-up past Milton.
- 3 pm domestic flight: pickup at 12:15 pm.
- 8 pm overseas flight: pickup by 4:15 pm, which already means some rush-hour traffic.
From Fergus, Elora or Rockwood, add 15 to 25 minutes.
Pickups beyond the city: Fergus, Elora, Rockwood and Puslinch
Wellington County addresses are welcome. The chauffeur needs a precise address and any notes about long driveways, gates or where a car can turn. Rural pickups have a slightly higher fare than downtown Guelph because the distance is longer; the engine calculates it from your exact address. In winter, tell us if your road is not ploughed early; we will build extra time into the plan.
The hourly alternative for a day in the region
Visitors flying into Pearson for a day at the university, a site visit in the Hanlon industrial parks, or a family event often need more than a transfer. Book an hourly chauffeur instead. A business sedan is a planning $120–145 per hour with a 3-hour minimum. A typical pattern: pickup at Pearson at 9 am, meetings in Guelph from 10:15 am, lunch downtown, a lab visit, and back to the airport for an evening flight. Eight hours is a planning $960–1,160 all-in plus HST, one car, one chauffeur, bags locked in the trunk the whole day.
Business travellers and research visitors
Visiting professors, conference speakers and agri-food companies bring a steady stream of one-day visitors to Guelph. Their assistants tend to book the airport run and the local moves separately, which leaves the visitor waiting on the curb twice. Our advice to event organisers is simple: book one hourly car per speaker for the day, or one Sprinter shuttle between the airport and the venue for a group arriving on the same flight. Our corporate car service page explains monthly invoicing for departments and companies.
Common mistakes on the Guelph–Pearson run
- Booking the GO train for a 6 am flight: the first trains may not get you there in time. Check first.
- Assuming the Hanlon is always quick. Construction and accidents at the 401 interchange are regular.
- Ignoring Terminal 3. If your airline flies from T3, UP Express users must transfer to the terminal link train.
- Forgetting car seats. Children's seats are added at booking, planning $10–15 each.
- Booking a sedan for four adults with four big cases. It won't fit. Choose an SUV or van.
Winter: snow squalls on the 401
The stretch of the 401 between the Hanlon and Milton is exposed, and lake-effect squalls can cut visibility suddenly. Chauffeurs check 511 Ontario before departure and dispatch moves pickups earlier when Environment Canada warnings are out. When the 401 is closed, the fallback is Highway 7 or the 407.

Flying home into Pearson
The return trip is where a booked car earns its money. You land, walk out to the commercial pickup curb, and the chauffeur is there, because the flight was tracked. There is no queue at a taxi stand and no search for a shuttle stop. From there it is 50 to 70 minutes home. Guests staying overnight near the airport before an early flight can use our Pearson airport hotels guide.

What the chauffeur needs from you
A smooth Guelph pickup comes down to four details at booking: the exact address, including any unit number or residence building; the flight number, even for departures, so dispatch can watch for schedule changes; the true number of bags, including strollers, golf bags and boxes; and a mobile number that will be switched on. For a 4 am pickup on a dark rural road, a porch light and a note about the driveway save minutes.
