The Road2Hope marathon starts and finishes at Confederation Park, 680 Van Wagner's Beach Road; the organisers list October 31 and November 1, 2026. The half and full marathon start at 8:00 am Sunday, the morning Ontario's clocks go back an hour. Be at the park by 6:45–7:15 am. A sedan within Hamilton is $75–100 one way; an hourly car is $120–145 an hour.
Road2Hope marathon race day: this year's twist
For fares and vehicles, see our Road2Hope marathon car service to Confederation Park. This post is the race-day playbook, and the 2026 edition comes with a detail worth circling: the Sunday race falls on November 1, the day daylight saving time ends in Ontario. Clocks go back one hour at 2:00 am, so an 8:00 am start is 8:00 am standard time. Phones update themselves; hotel alarm clocks, car clocks and some watches do not. Set your alarm on your phone, and check the time on it, not the bedside clock.
Why the clock change helps (and how it can hurt)
The good news: you get an extra hour of sleep on race night, and the start will be closer to daylight than it would have been a week earlier. The risk is confusion. Every year a few people arrive an hour early or, worse, rely on a device that has not changed and arrive an hour late. Our dispatch system books in local time, so a 6:30 am pickup means 6:30 am on the new clock. If in doubt, reply to your chauffeur's confirmation text on Saturday evening and we will confirm the time in plain words.
The weekend at a glance
pickup. It is also Halloween, so expect trick-or-treaters and slower residential streets in the evening.
- Saturday, October 31: the shorter races at Confederation Park, typically a kids' 1K, 5K and 10K events, plus kit
- Sunday, November 1: the half marathon and full marathon start together at 8:00 am on the two-loop waterfront course.

What time should you leave for the start?
| Leaving from | Distance to Confederation Park | Early-Sunday drive | Suggested pickup | Sedan one way |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stoney Creek hotel | about 3–8 km | 5–10 min | 6:45 am | $75–100 |
| Downtown Hamilton | about 12–15 km | 15–20 min | 6:30 am | $75–100 |
| Burlington | about 15 km | 15–20 min | 6:30 am | $90–115 |
| Grimsby / Beamsville | about 30 km | 20–30 min | 6:20 am | $125–155 |
| Oakville | about 40 km | 25–35 min | 6:00 am | $145–175 |
| Downtown Toronto | about 68 km | 50–70 min | 5:45 am | $270–330 |
These pickups aim for arrival between 6:45 and 7:15 am, which leaves time for washrooms, bag check and a short warm-up. If you still need your bib on race morning, add 30 minutes.

Drop-off at the start line: what really happens
Confederation Park has limited entrances, and on race morning they carry runners, volunteers and spectators arriving at the same time. The chauffeur follows marshals and police, stops only where cars are allowed and never on the course. Expect to be dropped at the nearest permitted point and to walk a few minutes to the start. The organisers say parking at the park is free for participants and spectators, but it fills early, so a drop-off saves you from a lot that is full at 7:10 am.
Pickups after the finish
The finish area is the busiest place in the park at the end of the morning, with spectators trying to leave at the same time. Agree a landmark on an open road a short walk from the finish, not the finish arch. Keep your phone in your bag-check bag, text as you leave the finish area, and walk steadily; stopping and sitting makes the legs seize. On an hourly chauffeur booking the car moves to the landmark when you text.
A supporter's plan for the two-loop course
The two-loop layout is kind to supporters: you can see your runner more than once without driving anywhere. A good plan:
- Arrive with the runner, watch the start.
- Walk to a spot on the waterfront trail for the first pass.
- Retreat to the warm car for coffee.
- Walk back out for the second loop.
- Move to the finish-area landmark about twenty minutes before the runner's expected time.
The Hamilton waterfront page describes the trail and the beach strip if you want to know the ground before race day.
How long should you book the car?
A half marathoner living in Hamilton often needs only two one-way legs. A full marathoner with supporters is better off hourly. For a four-hour marathoner from Oakville: pickup 6:00 am, finish around 12:10 pm, home by 1:00 pm, about seven hours in a sedan, $840–1,015 all-in plus HST. For a half marathoner from Burlington with one supporter: 6:30 am to 11:00 am, four and a half hours, $540–655. Compare the two approaches in our hourly vs point-to-point guide.
Where to stay the night before
Stoney Creek hotels near the QEW are the closest to the park and keep race morning short. Burlington hotels on the other side of the Skyway are a 15–20 minute drive; see our Burlington hotels page for where cars stop at each lobby. Downtown Hamilton adds a little distance but puts dinner within walking distance on Saturday.
Halloween night before a marathon
Saturday evening is Halloween, and residential streets are full of children after dark. If you are driving yourself to a pasta dinner, go early and slowly. If you are staying with family in a neighbourhood that goes big on Halloween, plan an early night somewhere quieter, or book an early dinner drop-off and pickup so you are home before the doorbell rush.

November weather by the lake
Early November can bring a crisp, clear start or a cold east wind and rain off Lake Ontario. Check Environment Canada the night before and plan layers you can throw away. Our fleet runs winter tires from the fall. If frost or fog is forecast on the QEW or the Skyway, dispatch adds time to the pickup, and we check Ontario 511 for overnight closures.
Arriving for the race from out of town
Runners flying in can land at Hamilton airport (YHM), about 15 km from downtown and a sedan fare of $90–115, or at Pearson, about 70 km and $245–300. Every airport pickup includes flight tracking and 30 minutes of waiting on Canadian and US flights, 60 minutes on other international arrivals. Train travellers can take GO or VIA to Aldershot or GO to Hamilton GO Centre and ride the last few kilometres by car.
Charity teams and running groups
Many runners take part through the Road2Hope charitable programme and travel as a team. A Sprinter from our own fleet seats fourteen with bags, drops everyone together and waits for the last finisher; a six-hour Sprinter booking is about $1,980–2,310 before HST. Tell the desk your fastest and slowest expected times. For the spring race on the same harbour, see our sibling post on Around the Bay race-day logistics.
Saturday: kids' races and kit pickup
The Saturday programme is where families get involved. If a child is running the 1K, plan to arrive early for check-in and have a warm layer ready for after. Kit pickup has been offered at the park on the Saturday and at the organiser's stores in the days before; confirm locations and hours on the race site. A short hourly booking on the Saturday afternoon covers kit pickup, a look at the start area so you know where bag check is, and an early pasta dinner, and it means your chauffeur for Sunday already knows your drop-off point.
Mistakes we see on marathon morning
- Trusting the hotel alarm clock on the morning the clocks change.
- Arriving at 7:40 am and joining the queue for the lot.
- Telling supporters to meet "at the finish", where cars cannot reach and crowds are thickest.
- Wearing the warm jacket to the start line with nowhere to leave it.
- Booking a rideshare home for a fixed time and finishing twenty minutes later than planned.
- Forgetting that Halloween evening slows residential streets the night before.
Supporters with limited mobility
A long morning on a cold lakeshore is hard for older supporters. The best plan is to keep them in the warm car near the course until your runner's expected time, then walk a short distance to a viewing spot. Tell the desk at booking about any wheelchair, walker or cane. For passengers who can transfer to a seat, we fold and stow wheelchairs and walkers; we do not operate ramp-equipped vehicles and will refer you to a specialist provider if you need one.
Heading straight to the airport or Toronto
Plenty of runners fly home the same afternoon. From Confederation Park to Pearson is roughly 75 km, usually 50–65 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, and a sedan is $245–300. To Union Station, allow 55–75 minutes and $270–330. If checkout allows, stop at your hotel for a shower first; if not, the car is a fine place to change into dry clothes. Our Hamilton to Pearson route page has full details.
A half marathoner's Sunday, timed
For a half marathoner staying in Burlington who hopes to run about 1 hour 50 minutes: alarm at 5:15 am on the phone, breakfast at 5:30, pickup at 6:30, at the park by 6:50, bag check and warm-up, start at 8:00, finish near 9:50, at the pickup landmark by 10:10, brunch at 10:30 and back at the hotel by noon. That is a morning of about five and a half hours in a sedan, $660–800 all-in plus HST, or two one-way rides at $90–115 each if nobody needs the car in between.
Getting there by bus or bike instead
Early on a Sunday, HSR service is lighter than on weekdays, and the beach strip is at the far end of several routes; check HSR for the first buses before counting on one for a 7:00 am arrival. Cyclists can use the waterfront trail, which is lovely in daylight but dark before sunrise, so bring lights. For most runners the realistic choices are a lift from a friend, a drop-off, or parking early in the park.
Book your race-morning car direct
Book on HamiltonLimo.net's own reservation engine: choose one-way or hourly, enter Confederation Park, the race date, your expected finish time and any child seats in the notes. The engine shows a fixed all-in fare with HST separate before you confirm, and no surge on race morning. One dispatch desk, no app, no aggregator commission. Free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 % at 72 hours or less, 50 % at 48 hours or less, 100 % at 24 hours or less or on a no-show.
