Oakville to downtown Toronto is about 38 km, 35 to 55 minutes by car on the QEW and Gardiner, longer in the weekday morning rush. GO Lakeshore West trains run from Oakville and Bronte stations to Union Station. A private sedan door to door is a planning $175–220 all-in plus HST; an hourly chauffeur is $120–145 per hour with a 3-hour minimum.
Most of what you need about fares from Oakville, including Pearson and Billy Bishop runs, is on our Oakville limo service page. This post covers the two reasons Oakville clients most often go into the city: a business day with meetings downtown, and an evening at a show, game or concert. Each has a different best answer.

Plan A: the business day downtown
For a single meeting near Union Station, the GO train from Oakville station is quick and cheap, and we recommend it. Check the GO Transit timetable for your day. The car starts to win when the day has more than one stop, a fixed start time you cannot miss, or something to carry.
A typical executive day that suits an hourly chauffeur:
- 7:15 am: pickup in Old Oakville or Glen Abbey.
- 8:15 am: breakfast meeting on King Street West; the chauffeur waits nearby.
- 10 am: a client office in the financial district.
- 12:30 pm: lunch in Yorkville.
- 2:30 pm: a site visit in Liberty Village.
- 4:30 pm: home to Oakville before the worst of the westbound traffic.
That is roughly 9.5 hours in a business sedan at $120–145 per hour, a planning $1,140–1,380 all-in plus HST. The alternative is a train, three taxis or ride-hail trips, and a return train, with the timing risk at every step. For a team of four, an executive SUV at $190–235 per hour keeps everyone together and turns the car into a meeting room. Our post on executive car service for a day of meetings shows more sample days.

Why the morning drive is the hard part
Heading east on the QEW between 7 and 9:30 am, the 38 km can take an hour or more, with the Gardiner often slowest at the downtown end. Chauffeurs use the 403 and 407 when the QEW is blocked, and any toll is already in your fare. If a meeting cannot be missed, allow the full hour, or take the train and book the car for the rest of the day, starting at Union. Traffic conditions are on 511 Ontario.
Plan B: the evening out
For theatre, concerts and games, the question is the ride home, not the ride in. A sample evening for a couple in a business sedan:
- 5 pm: pickup in Oakville.
- 5:50 pm: dinner in the Entertainment District.
- 7:45 pm: the show at a downtown theatre, or a concert at Roy Thomson Hall.
- 10:45 pm: pickup at a side-street corner agreed in advance.
- 11:30 pm: home.
About 6.5 hours of hourly service, a planning $780–945 all-in plus HST. Or, if you would rather take the train in, a one-way sedan home is $175–220. Check event times at Roy Thomson Hall or Mirvish.
Games and big concerts
Scotiabank Arena sits beside Union Station, and Rogers Centre is a short walk from it, so the GO train works well on the way in. After the final whistle the platforms fill. Four friends taking an executive SUV home pay a planning $275–355 in total, about $70–90 each, and leave when they are ready. Budweiser Stage and events at Ontario Place are further from Union, where a car both ways is more convenient. See Scotiabank Arena and the Toronto Blue Jays for schedules.
Festival season and big weekends
Some weekends change the plan completely. The Toronto International Film Festival usually runs in September, and streets around King Street West are closed or crowded for red-carpet screenings; check TIFF for this year's dates and venues before choosing a drop-off. Summer weekends bring festivals, marathons and waterfront events that close lanes on the Gardiner and Lake Shore Boulevard. On those days the GO train is often the calmer way in, and a car home from a quieter street is the calmer way out. Dispatch checks road closures on the City of Toronto site before your pickup and will suggest a different meeting point if needed.
Finishing the day at the airport
A common executive pattern is a morning of meetings downtown followed by a flight out in the evening. Rather than going home to Oakville first, keep the hourly car and finish at Pearson, 30 to 40 minutes from downtown outside the rush, or at Billy Bishop, 10 to 15 minutes from the financial district. Your luggage stays locked in the trunk all day. For a Pearson finish, allow extra time after 3 pm, when Highway 427 northbound slows. The Toronto Pearson airport limo page lists terminal drop-off doors.
Parents, grandparents and accessible trips
Oakville families often book a downtown trip for an older parent: a specialist appointment at one of the University Avenue hospitals, a matinee, or lunch with grandchildren. A door-to-door car avoids the stairs and platforms at Union Station. Chauffeurs help passengers in and out, carry bags, and fold and stow a wheelchair or walker for passengers who can transfer to a seat. Our fleet has no ramp-equipped vehicles; for passengers who must stay seated in a wheelchair, we refer you to a specialist accessible provider. For a hospital visit with an uncertain end time, book hourly so the car is waiting when the appointment finishes. Our guide to medical appointment transportation explains how those bookings work.
Winter on the QEW
Lake-effect snow and freezing rain slow the QEW through Oakville and Mississauga several times each winter. Trains usually keep running; road trips can double in length. On a storm morning, we will tell you honestly that the train is the better option, and move your car booking to the evening return instead. Chauffeurs check Environment Canada and 511 before early pickups.
A quick cost check for a couple going to a show
- GO train both ways: two return fares, plus parking or a drop-off at the station, plus the walk or a taxi from Union to the theatre.
- Drive and park: fuel, event parking downtown, and one of you not drinking.
- Car home only: a train in, a sedan home at $175–220.
- Hourly both ways with the car waiting: a planning $780–945 for about 6.5 hours.
The right choice depends on how late the evening runs and how much the drive home matters to you.
Oakville's two GO stations
Oakville station, near Trafalgar Road and the QEW, is the main stop, with express trips on some schedules. Bronte station serves the west end. Both are on the Lakeshore West line to Union. If you drive to the station, parking can fill early on weekdays; being dropped off solves it. Some Oakville clients book a short local car to the station in the morning and a car home from Union at night, which is still cheaper than a car both ways.
Getting to Billy Bishop for a Porter or Air Canada flight
Billy Bishop airport on the Toronto Island is about 40 km from Oakville, 35 to 55 minutes, a planning $190–230 in a sedan. Cars stop at the mainland pavilion on Eireann Quay, where passengers take the pedestrian tunnel or the short ferry across. For a business traveller flying to Montreal or Ottawa, that is often faster than Pearson. Our post on Billy Bishop or Pearson from Hamilton weighs the two airports, and Billy Bishop lists current airlines.
Hosting visitors in Oakville
Companies headquartered in Oakville often bring visitors in from downtown Toronto hotels. A car from a downtown hotel to an Oakville office, with the chauffeur waiting and returning the guest in the evening, is a common booking. Our Oakville hotels and downtown Toronto hotels pages list where cars stop at each property. Accounts with monthly invoicing are explained on our corporate car service page.

Choosing the vehicle
- One or two passengers, a business meeting: a business sedan.
- Up to five people, or winter roads: a Business SUV, a black Tahoe or Yukon at close to sedan money, about $230–285 to Union one way.
- A client you want to impress, or an anniversary dinner: a first-class sedan (S-Class or 7 Series), about 2.5 times the sedan rate.
- Four to six people or golf bags: an executive SUV or luxury van.
- A team outing to a game: a 14-seat Sprinter at a planning $330–385 per hour.
- A board or VIP group of up to seven that wants to meet on the move: a Jet Sprinter, captain's chairs and work tables, a planning $650–750 per hour.
If you are unsure, choose by luggage rather than by passengers. Three adults with carry-ons fit a sedan comfortably; three adults with garment bags, a sample case and golf clubs do not. Our fleet page lists the seat and bag limits for every class.
Mistakes Oakville clients tell us about
- Driving in for a 9 am meeting and spending 75 minutes on the QEW.
- Parking downtown for a show at event rates.
- Waiting at Union for a late train after a game that ran long.
- Agreeing to meet the car at the theatre's front door at curtain, when the curb is closed.
- Booking one way in, planning to "figure out" the way home.
The reverse trip: Toronto to Oakville
Toronto residents heading to Oakville for Glen Abbey, a lakeshore wedding, or dinner in downtown Oakville book the same car the other way; fares are the same. For Burlington, the neighbouring guide is Burlington to downtown Toronto, and Oakville flyers should also read Oakville to Pearson.
Booking for a visiting executive
Assistants in Oakville often book downtown days for visiting executives who don't know the city. Give us the guest's name and mobile number, the full itinerary with addresses and times, and any building access notes, such as a loading dock entrance or a security desk. The chauffeur then runs the day to that plan, with dispatch adjusting if a meeting overruns.
